All is well. You did not come here to fix a broken world. The world is not broken. You came here to live a wonderful life. And if you relax a little and let it all in, you will begin to see the Universe present you with all that you have asked for.

The Power of Now

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is the sort of book that continues to swirl about in your consciousness weeks after you’ve read it.

The basic principle of the book is quite simple: NOTHING EXISTS OUTSIDE THIS PRESENT MOMENT.  Many people think of a lifetime as a line segment from birth to death with the present moment being a single point on that line moving slowly forward.  After reading The Power of Now, I finally understood that this way of thinking was extremely disempowering.

This book taught me that there is no line segment and the point is all there is.  The past and the future are illusions.  They only exist to the degree we focus our attention on them right now.  We create the past and the future by imagining them in the present.  And we don’t even exist outside the Now.

If you can grasp the idea that nothing exists outside this present moment, you can turn your overall life strategy upside down because if you want to experience anything in life, you must create it in this moment.  It must exist in some form right now, or it doesn’t exist at all.

For example, the idea of creating a new way of life or freedom and wealth in the future, by constraining yourself in the present, is nothing but wasted energy.  That future will never arrive as long as you are creating lack thereof in the here and now!

"The peaceful warrior's way is not about invulnerability, but absolute vulnerability--to the world, to life, and to the Presence you felt.   All along I've shown you by example that a warrior's life is not about imagined perfection or victory; it is about love.   Love is a warrior's sword; wherever it cuts, it gives life, not death."

Dreams..

“Dreams pass into the reality of action.
From the actions stems the dream again;
and this interdependence produces the
highest form of living.”

Mind is the Master

Mind is the master power that molds and makes,

We are mind, and evermore we take

The tool of thought, and, shaping what we will

Bring forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:--

We think in secret and, it comes to pass:

Our world is but our looking-glass.

Become Like the Early Morning Breeze

''Man has to become like the early morning breeze, the breeze, just before the sun rise,

which is known for its freshness, aliveness and purity.

Man has to be that fresh, that alive and that pure.

Only through that freshness and aliveness God be contacted.

Krshna the source of all life is contacted.

It is not accident, all religions have chosen early morning as prayer time, the time to receive God.

We become very dusty & go on gathering dust. Our very being is polluted.

Pollution is not in atmosphere, it is in our being.

When our being is polluted, we start polluting nature.

When a man feels utterly hellish inside, he starts creating hell outside. Only corpses move around.

No aliveness, no freshness, no sensitivity.

In-spite of all we go on asking 'Where god is ?

And all the quality in which krshna can be reflected is missing.

The whole science of religion should be towards one goal: how to purify the inner being of man,

how to drop the past, the burden, the dead, the dull, how to make man more sensitive.

The deeper the sensitivity, the deeper we penetrate existence. And God is the very core of existence.

Unless we penetrate our own core there is no possibility of contacting the source of all life: the Krshna.”

Conscious Parenting

This and The Ringing Cedars Series is a must read for anyone thinking of bringing a child into this world.

I had a c section with both children and remember each time, as they were being taken out of my womb, feeling the separation even though I was numb from the waist down.  It was like a splitting of my soul, or a final disconnection that resulted in sudden, uncontrollable tears streaming down my face. This feeling took me by surprise both times.

To this day, I still try to understand what had happened to me in those moments before birth.  Perhaps I am still in the process of letting go of dead connections and all the grief that I was carrying around habitually?  Perhaps at that moment of separation, I was being liberated from my grief so that my spiritual growth could be accelerated for their sake?

In any case, it is because of them that I continue to dream with my eyes open and experience so many beautiful blessings in this life.  And despite the recent knee cap injury, it is nice to be home again, watching the children happily rediscover their belongings after a month long absence.

Becoming a Mother

Becoming a mother is one of the most hardest and the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced.  Despite lacking sleep for over 4 years now, I somehow manage to juggle so much more than when I was without them.  I learned to pull rabbits out of my crevices and my powers of manifestation is good on most days.

It's a huge stepping stone for me to be able to write things that have been swirling in my head for so many years,  and not just memoirs for my children.  And oh how much I love them and value their contributions to my life!  For example, a simple meal just doesn't taste the same without them I realized when I was working out of town recently.  And the hollow emptiness that pierced deep into my body in the still of the night, without their little breathing and fidgeting, it was like being in a time warp with seconds passing as hours.

Yes, becoming a mother is the most hardest and the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced.

Feston Roses

The Feston rose plant is one of the top 10 purifying plants according to The New Ecologist.

The scent of fresh roses and freesias always take me back to my youth but the Feston rose plant always pull me into the time of my preschool years.  Warm sunny days and the gentle breeze delicately igniting the unique scent of these little flowers, my mouth always watered while images of orange and red creamsicles swirled in my head.  I guess it always sparked my creativity and pulled me into a moment of timelessness.

Then I recently realized that I grew up with a secret admiration and love for this often ignored plant as I find myself delighted whenever I see my children walking towards them or when they bring me a stem full of these scented buds.  It is true, that whatever you appreciate or love, Life keeps giving you more.

A Squirrel's Paradise

Today we spent the entire afternoon in a special place overlooking the city below. What a jewel of a place!  I would compare it to Bavaria, in respect to the architecture and landscape; even the culture and mentality of the people are remarkably distinct from the rest of this tiny country.

When we got out of the car we came across acorns and chestnuts scattered abundantly below the trees and I thought, ''A squirrel's paradise!'' I felt so much joy and gratitude to be here that I didn't even mind my kids slipping on acorns and falling down, getting dirty within 2 minutes of exiting the car.

This place is famous for its botanical gardens in the heart of the lush, green Minho region and there were pine trees, chestnut trees, dandelion weeds and aloe vera all over the forest. Raw foodist's can surely sustain themselves here if needed.  And there was some kind of exotic fruit tree growing next to the hotel located by the grotto but I couldn't figure it out. I will go back and ask the Hotel tomorrow.

It's absolutely amazing here and it is only now that I see the abundance of this special place. Now that my head is clear and I have 2 boys to navigate through this world. My spirit has already left our ritzy tourist town filled with the diplomatic communities, the nouveau riche, the retired, and misguided village idots. Well, they are everywhere but I want to be as far away as possible.

This place also has natural springs flowing continuously and the water was so sweet and alive compared to my regular Brita filtered water.  What a huge difference.

I got to spend some quiet time on a boat with my oldest son while the little one was napping. My oldest knows how to row the boat now but we floated silently on the lake for the most part, enjoying the sunlight peeking through the branches of leaves, caressing us throughout the afternoon. It was a splendid day!

And imagine, living only 5 minutes away from here. I just have to find some squirrels to let loose in this forest and I'll be set!  What a gift!

Franz Kafka

"You need not leave your room. remain sitting at your table & listen.

You need not even listen. Simply wait.

You need not even wait.

Just learn to become quiet & still in solitary.

The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked.

It has no choice.

It will roll in ecstacy at your feet."

Franz Kafka
